Pretty sure our old church were taking kids less than 10 to see it.

You're saying we should respect a non christian based rating system. So if a game has satan worship but no violence and gets an E rating you'd buy it right?

Yes the game is violent, but the majority of it is shooting fictional aliens, and what people seem to be forgetting is that the bible is a violent book. (killing people with a donkeys jawbone) And like murder, pornography is about whats in your heart. You are lusting over girls, when you play a video game with your buddys, are you hating them to where you want to kill? No, its fictional, many of these guns games are war anyway, and christians have fought in wars.

Its basically people like you making a big deal over nothing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5477631509596343957.post-59270368437912355602011-05-03T20:36:06.230-06:002011-05-03T20:36:06.230-06:00We have this problem, too, but my son is 9 and got...We have this problem, too, but my son is 9 and got the game and Xbox from his grandparents when he was 8 (that he plays at my ex-husband's house). I don't think Halo is evil, but it is SO not appropriate for a child! Hence the reason it doesn't even have the T rating for teen, it's M for mature!

I have dialogued with my son about this and at least gotten my ex to agree to limited time and limited online friends (the online community with this game gets violent and cusses a lot, and greatly dislikes playing with kids so they kill them off as much as possible). He brought this to my attention and made sure our son has a list of ONLY children and he listens into their conversations or mutes them.

I say just dialogue a lot, ask the kid regularly if this is a healthy choice and at least agree with the other parent on time constraints with the game.

Good luck!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5477631509596343957.post-25151118867512386222010-12-25T16:07:02.995-07:002010-12-25T16:07:02.995-07:00You mentioned Halo 3 not being appropriate for you...You mentioned Halo 3 not being appropriate for youth younger than 17, and I agree. And, I also agree with youth not being allowed to watch rated R movies. My issue is that my 13 year old stepson has parents that allow him to play rated M video games, even after we expressed our disproval to them. How do we teach him to turn away from inappropriate games when they encourage it? We do not allow the games in our home, so he does not play them when he is with us. Any suggestions for discussions with him that won't seem like we are bashing their parenting decisions would be appreciated.
